DO not use head and shoulders. Where do you live? You could have a scalp disease but I used to get dandruf before, I went to a dr and he told me to use only two specific shampoos and they have been working greatly for years. I'm in the US and you can get them at any CVS/wallgreen store. They're called Denorex and the other Nezoral. If I were you I would start using them. in 4 weeks if you don't see an improvment, you should go see a doctor. They don't have any side effects and don't require a perscribtion to buy.

I was using nizoral for a while and it's good..

I was suffering from dandruff only while being in Jordan which makes me wonder if the water in Jordan has something to do with it..

No drug has no side effects , unless it is not a drug .

Over the counter drugs are usually :
* Easily diagnosed by the public
* Won't delay the patient to go to the doctor if the disease is serious.
* Realtively safe , and with mild side effects.

Legislation of drugs vary from one country to another

I advise u to use Selsun shampoo ...

Use it twice weekly for 2 weeks , then once weekly for 2 weeks.
u can use it once weekly as needed thereafter.

How to use :
Massage into wet scalp , leave for 2-3 minutes, rinse and repeat.

Important notes:
* Wash hands after use
* Avoid contasct with jewelery
* Avoid using 48 hours before or
after hair colouring , straightening
or waving preparations

If still no use, a dermatologist opinion is needed.

Selsun Shampoo is really good!

if not then what about using a "leave in conditioner" which is used after taking a shower?

Dry hair is one of the mild side effects.

Yes , but it it is better to use a regular shampoo before Selsun,
and u can use it afterwards as well.(rinse before applying Selsun)

Most important is that u leave Selsun on the hair for a
2-3 minutes then rinse and repeat.

No , it will not affect it ..... :-emb:

Check this small article on dandruff ......

Quote:
The shedding of dead skin cells from your scalp is normal within the growing
process of the cells. Your scalp is renewing constantly, just like the rest of
your skin. When it happens at an excessive rate however we call it dandruff.
It can happen at any age. Dandruff has nothing to do with bad hair care.
Even if you wash your hair often you can still have dandruff. Dandruff that
falls to the shoulders can be a real pain and many (50% of all adults
according to certain studies) are affected.

There are several possible causes for dandruff: stress, bad nutrition, lack of
rest, frequent use of gels and hair sprays, excessive use of hot curling irons, ... .
Dandruf is worst during cold winters and less severe during summer.

There is no lasting cure for dandruff. You can try to control it however. Use
a good dandruff shampoo to get rid of it. You might have to try out several
different types of shampoo before you find the one that is best for your
scalp. It is important to experiment.

Remember that when you stop the treatment of your scalp and hair with
dandruff shampoo, the dandruff will return.

In severe cases you will need to see a dermatologist because another scalp
disease could be involved.
