I went to virus to get online for a while … I chatted with a bunch of people … everyone was telling me what the hell are u still doing in Beirut get the hell out are u insane … ino as if I am sitting there chatting with them while the bombs are falling around me … one of the people I chatted with is this Pakistani-american guy called jaffer … he's an only child and his parents are filthy rich so as you can imagine he's soooooo spoiled but he is one of my best friends … I've known him ever since we were kids … he used to live across the street for a while but then he moved to a different part of the compound later on … ino I could still walk to his house in like 5 minutes but he wasn't across the street anymore … his dad retired 2 years ago and now they live in Houston … anyway the point is he was telling me all these stories about people who were in our grade … one girl had twins I don't know if she is married or not … another girl is a lesbian now hehe … another one had a car accident and now she is paralyzed from the neck down and her sister died in the accident … another guy committed suicide … so it was interesting to hear those stories … it was a "nice" change from the war. I was just watching conan o'brien … they did this little sketch where they introduced some new characters … those who are familiar with the show know that they have these unusual recurring characters on it … like the Fed Ex pope for example lol … anyway one of the new characters was really funny … it's "zidane saving a choking victim" … 2al there's a guy eating a sandwich and he starts choking on it and then a zidane look-a-like walks up to him and headbutts him in the chest and the piece of food he is choking on comes flying out and the guy is all happy and he shakes zidane's hand looooooool. Televised word for Sayyid hasan (the commander in chief lol) to be shown tonight … this is what the newsbar is saying … speaking of people on tv … I saw zeina's dad on tv the other day (he's an ex-colonel in the Lebanese army and now he has his own strategic research center so they talk to him bi sifato "5abeer 3askari") … they were talking to him on mbc news … it's not the first time I see him on tv … I saw him on qanat al3alam last week … and even before the war I've seen him on tv several times … I wonder if zeina is in Beirut these days … hmm … I doubt it … she's probably on the beach in spain or shopping in Paris or something. Funny story … there is this one photo that was on yahoo on the most popular page today (I'm pretty sure it's still there) … it is a picture of a demonstration in the Czech republic supporting Lebanon and there is this one girl with enormous breasts wearing a shirt that says I "heart" Beirut … I posted it on my blog if you want to see it www.qassami.blogspot.com … the point is that there is this guy smiling and holding a sign in the background … it says something about destroying bridges … I know that guy!!! … he was with me in my group in my business communications class project last semester … his mother is Czech and his father is Lebanese … lol it was weird … what happened was that I enlarged the photo to get a better look hehe and then all of a sudden I noticed him smiling in the background and I was like hey that's kameel … small world … weird right? Still waiting for mister hasan to address the nation … breaking news: 4 of the UN troops just got killed in an Israeli raid in the south … oh snap … whatcha gonna do about it kofi? I was talking about the increasing amount of litter in the streets … yesterday I saw a reportage on newtv about former PM salim el hoss who has started an initiative to clean the litter in Beirut's streets … they showed him and his daughter along with some other citizens sweeping the street and picking up garbage … a former arab PM sweeping the street and picking up garbage on tv … that's a new one! What else is in the news … the Saudi official position is starting to come around … they're seeing the error of their ways or so it would seem … well at least now they are condemning Israel and not just placing the blame on Hezbollah … so it's a start! Sayyid hasan's speech is over … he said something about mar7alit ma ba3d 7aifa … hmmm … the plot thickens lol … ya3ni he means tel aviv I guess … tel aviv hasn't been hit yet … they can't bomb ilquds right because it's a holy city … so I guess he means tel aviv … so in the words of the wu-tang clan "y'all been warned" Israel! … Allah m7ayyeek ya sayyid! ** random thought of the day: have you seen the commercial for that drink called Pocari Sweat … SWEAT??? … that has to be the worst name for a drink I have ever heard! ZzzzZzZzzzZ July 26, 2006 12 Israeli soldiers killed today … BOOYA … not bad … not bad at all … it's 14 now … they're saying 14 3ala alaqal … so hopefully the death toll will rise … the electricity went out for a while … for about an hour … I spent my time reading waiting for it to come back … still reading "pity the nation" … right now I'm at the part when the US marines complex got bombed. 14 dead Israelis … man … that's a lot of dead Israelis … especially for one day … usually when that many of them die in one day it's because of a "suicide" bombing … these are military casualties so it's even better … not only that these are Israeli special forces so it's even better … go Hezbollah … there's reports that the 7izb il shiyoo3i was fighting along with them … guerilla warfare baby! In other news … 23 Palestinians died in Gaza today … damn! Saudi tv is holding a telethon right now to raise money for Lebanon … I remember they had a similar one for the Palestinians when intifadit ilaqsa first started and they were criticized heavily for it by the US … right now they've raised just over six million dollars … some of the shops on my street are opening their doors these days … GS is open … they have a security guard now … don't know why but they do … very few shoppers on the street though … most of the people that work in the shops are outside either leaning on a car or on the shop window … they don't stay open till 7-8 pm like they usually do … most of them begin closing around 4-5. They're saying they killed 4 more Israeli intelligence troops at the border … that brings the total for today to 18 dead Israeli soldiers … music to my ears … these guys are on a roll … what if Israel gets so mad because they're getting their asses kicked down there in the south that they start bombing the hell out of Beirut … ino it's farfetched but still it's possible … anyway I hope it doesn't happen. I went to virus today as usual … AUB sent out an email asking people to help clean the streets … turns out selim elhoss is on the board of trustees … and they are doing this in response to his initiative … they're gonna meet up tomorrow at main gate at 3 to start cleaning … I might go … wow … I must be really bored if I am contemplating picking up litter as a way to pass the time … bas yallah at least I would be doing something … doing my part … on second thought I seriously doubt I'm gonna go to be honest lol … I'm not that desperate … YET lol … bas huwa bsara7a the city could use some cleaning … there is sooooo much litter these days … the thing is the garbage trucks are still making the rounds and emptying out the 7awyat … the problem is with the sidewalks and the streets … there's a lot of litter … I think those that have been to Beirut before would agree with me that it is not really that clean of a place aslan … so you can imagine what it's like now … I can't speak for all of Beirut but hamra is quite littered these days. There was this article on yahoo where one Israeli official was quoted as saying that the situation could continue for several more weeks … YA 7ABIBI … I think I'm gonna have to leave if it goes on for too long … I don't want to leave but I'm sure my parents will force me to leave if this thing drags on … aslan right now the only reason they're letting me stay is because they're under the impression that summer will be resumed soon … well that's what AUB said but if you ask me I don't think there is a summer semester anymore … which means I get to stay for an extra semester praise the lord lol … I want to stay through the war I really do … it's a win-win situation the way I see it … if I live through it then it will be a cool memory that I will never forget … if I die then I would be a shaheed or so I believe … of course I never told my parents about this theory of mine … 2al if I die it's no big deal hahaha … right now my parents are playing along but I know that if the situation gets out of hand they will make me leave … they already told me to leave and to go talk to the Jordanian embassy but I told them that they're over-reacting and that there's no need for that 2u ino summer isn't cancelled … my return flight to Saudi is scheduled for august 30 … I wonder if the airport will be open by then … the thing I'm worried about most is that what if it does get out of hand and Lebanon goes to hell and I have to find a new university … that would SUCK … not so much because I want to be an AUB grad but because of all the bull**** that I would have to go through in order to go to a new uni … and I'm so close to graduating!!! … nshalla khair. • If my entries are incoherent it's because I don't write them all at once … I don't sit down at night everyday and write an entry … what happens is that the pc is on all day (when there is electricity!) and whenever I feel like writing something I sit down and type it … so I apologize if it sounds like ta5bees but it's just that I am home most of the time like I said so this is one of the things I do to keep busy and keep myself entertained. |

As usual I woke up today because the electricity went out … it's getting annoying … I'm not in the mood to go pick up any litter … lol I knew I wasn't gonna go … anyway regarding the litter situation there was just a short announcement on LBC that sukleen is looking for people to work as truck drivers and garbage men … hmmm … lol … oh God I'm so bored … boooooooored … I was so bored I was going through my old university notebooks and reading them … I buy a 5 subject notebook every semester so I have a whole collection of them now … they are full of drawings and random thoughts … I barely take notes lol … anyway … I found this one poem in there that I wrote … it's about being bored so I will share it here … it goes: Sitting here in class Bored off my ass Drowning in my sorrow Because there's an exam tomorrow Lal marra ilmalyon I'm so bored … too bored to read … I'm sick of "pity the nation" … I'm gonna finish it ya3ni … I'm pretty far in it bas mish tayi2 hala2 … I was thinking and I realized that the last book I read was also about war … it's called "jarhead" … it was written by a US marine and he's talking about what it was like in operations desert storm and desert shield … enough war already … iffff … seriously bored … ever since the war started my life has stopped … I have no life … I sleep at like 8 or 9 in the morning … wake up at 3 or 4 in the afternoon … and do nothing … this is called surviving not living … should I leave??? … a lot of people left because of safety concerns … if I leave it's going to be to keep myself from going insane … honestly I don't know how much more I can take … stuck between 4 walls like this and barely seeing anyone … 3a ra2i metallica: frayed ends of sanity, hear them calling meeeee … I guess this is what they call il malal il qatil. ** There is one bright spot I can see in what happened … is that the situation in Lebanon has helped shi3a and sunneh in the arab world unite against a common enemy … there was a lot of tension between the two especially because of what was happening in iraq so hopefully this will reduce it. HOW BORED AM I? If boredom was milk, I'm a cow If boredom was black people, I'm Africa If boredom was sand, I'm a desert If boredom was water, I'm an ocean If boredom was blue, I'm the sky If boredom was books, I'm a library If boredom was words, I'm a dictionary If boredom was heat, I'm the sun If boredom was speed, I'm light If boredom was romance, I'm Casanova If boredom was power, I'm God If boredom was money, I'm bill gates If boredom was dirty, I'm a pig If boredom was knowledge, I'm a genius If boredom was a drug, I'm stoned If boredom was beauty, I'm miss universe If boredom was a ship, I'm the titanic You know that song for m7ammad munir that goes like maaaadad madad madad … I got one too … it goes zaaaaaaaha2 zaha2 zaha2! July 28, 2006
I was bored as hell yesterday … as you might have noticed lol … I spent most of yesterday sleeping … assuming that the day began at 8 am then I was only awake for about 3 or 4 hours … I've discovered that sleeping is the best thing to do … it's better than everything else I do to keep myself entertained … I'm having the weirdest dreams lately … they're a nice escape from the dull routine which I am living in … anyway so I was asleep pretty much the entire day … I woke up late around 11 pm because the electricity went out … I should stop saying I woke up because the electricity went out … ino khalas from now on saying that I woke up automatically means the electricity went out lol … so then when they turned the generator on there was a problem … kan 3am yi3mal "contact" … and so some rooms got electricity and some didn't … mine didn't … GREAT! … and we had to wait for the electrician to come next morning … kahraba ya kahraba ana ba7ibbik ya kahraba … honestly not having electricity is the worst thing that can happen to me … the entire room and everything in it becomes useless … a dark and useless room … all I can do is lie in bed listening to the discman or go outside on the balcony and drink tea smoke while I wait for it to come back … or I can go out somewhere like an internet café or someone's place but that's not always an option … anyway so I had to spend the whole night without electricity … and there was no way I could fall asleep because I had just spent the entire day sleeping … what to do what to do … I tried going back to sleep but it was useless … I was doomed to spend an entire night without electricity … around 2 am I went to get some food … I went and got some mana2eesh … I get my mana2eesh from this place called snack ghalayeeni … I call it Giuliani lol … like the new york mayor you know … anyway they're not the best mana2eesh ya3ni bas it's really close to where I live and it's really cheap kaman … they have this big pizza for 5,000 liras … lol we call it pizza nawariyeh because it's not really a pizza … anyway I got two jibneh and two la7meh … and I spent the entire night out on the balcony drinking tea and smoking and reading pity the nation … I finished it finally … amazing book … it's probably the closest you can get to actually experiencing the Lebanese civil war … so that was my night … I have to get another book from rami now … or I can read grapes of wrath … that's the only book that I own that I still haven't read … it's weird because grapes of wrath was the name of the last Israeli military operation against Lebanon when they committed the qana massacre … or I can read one of my books for a second time … or I can simply not read anymore books lol. There wasn't that much litter today … I guess they don't have the manpower to collect it everyday … so it builds up and every three days or whatever they come and clean it … yallah at least the streets were clean today. I saw an Israeli plane the other night … it was a drone (an unmanned reconnaissance plane ya3ni bil 3arabi tayyarit istitla3 bidoon tayyar) … you can't really see it because it's so high in the sky … but you know it's there because it leaves behind it a long thin orange trail. The uae is holding their own telethon now … it's nice that they are trying to help the people who have been hurt by the war … but throwing money at the problem isn't enough … there needs to be some political aid as well … political aid not military aid … ya3ni push for a ceasefire … humanitarian aid is nice but it's not enough … still I guess it's better than nothing … meanwhile the fighting continues in the south … 5aybar 1 hehe … nice name for a missile don't you think? I haven't seen anyone in like 3 days now … I don't have units to call anyone … I tried calling one of my friends from a payphone yesterday but his phone was off … I don't want to recharge my phone … they cancelled the recharging deadlines since the war started so I'm trying to save some money by waiting till they are put into effect again … aslan why should I recharge … ino who am I gonna call … there's no one here … khalas payphone is good enough for now (payphone costs 500 lira per call) … aslan let them call me hehe … I think we got bored of each other khalas … there's nothing for us to do anyway. Dad called … he asked if I was studying at all during my free time … can you believe that … I told him I was lol … don't know if he believed me … don't care either. I didn't go to salat iljum3a today … I didn't go because I didn't know today was Friday … lol I know that's sad … I don't know what day it is anymore … all the days are the same now. I tried reinstalling warcraft 3 … I already finished it before but I figured it might give me something to do if I played it again … but the pc keeps freezing up in the middle of the installation … the pc is messed up … biddo formatting … ever since that day it crashed it hasn't been the same … even when I try to make mix cds it freezes up … whatever … it's cool though I have plenty of games installed. I think I'm gonna start going walking from now on … take my discman and go walking around Beirut … ino it's exercise plus I get to go out and ghayyir jaw … and I can take pictures while I'm at it if I see something interesting. I NEED TO SHAVE bas I'm too lazy ** what if Hezbollah wins the war … which I hope they do … but let's assume Israel says ok you win here's your prisoners and shib3a back now leave us alone … so what happens to the Palestinians? July 29, 2006 I saw American beauty on tv last night … I've seen it a million times but I don't know every time I watch it moves me … it touches me lol … but seriously it's a good movie … I also saw the virgin suicides … ok movie … I've seen it before though. Had another weird dream last night! I haven't been hearing any explosions in the past few days … maybe it's cuz I'm sleeping through the day … or I don't know maybe they simply stopped bombing … the point is I haven't heard an explosion in at least two days … is that a good thing lol … I know it's a good thing but honestly the explosions added some excitement to life … I guess Israel has finally realized that they had no business bombing left and right the way they were … seriously ino why did they have to go and bomb the bridges and the airport … it was totally uncalled for … you want to retaliate strike back at Hezbollah … I mean ok they bombed some Hezbollah places in da7yeh … but those were civilian not military places by the way … but ok they are Hezbollah places at least they can justify it somehow … but not everything they bombed in da7yeh was Hezbollah 3a fikra … but I guess they finally realized they ****ed up by bombing like that … ino it made them look bad and it didn't do anything … they're concentrating on the south now … and even that's not working … the ground offensive in the south has failed so far … so what are they doing … are they just gonna keep bombing from the air … that's not gonna accomplish anything … you want your soldiers back it's simple … give us the prisoners and it will be over … but no they have to go all out and launch a war … makes you question whether the soldiers are on Israel's mind at all. Zeina's dad was on tv again today … on 3arabiya … they were talking to him on the phone … he's in paris … so I guess I was right hehe … if they cancel summer I'm going to 3amman not Saudi … khalas I made up my mind … bas how am I gonna get to 3amman exactly … ehhh that's gonna be a problem … it's not gonna be so easy to leave even when I decide to … ****. I haven't been online in a while … think I'm gonna go today. Sayyid hasan is on again … it's like a musalsal now lol … I hope the 7alqa ila5eera … the victory speech … comes soon. |

What is the sharq ilawsat iljadeed … I'm not really sure … I've been hearing the term a lot these days … I do know one thing … ilsharq ilawsat iljadeed is not a good thing … why … because the US wants it … anything that comes from the neo-cons couldn't possibly be good. The Jordanian planes that came to take some of the wounded civilians were sent home empty-handed … apparently it was a political statement by the people they were trying to help … it seems like a rude thing to do on behalf of the Lebanese at first glance … ino someone is offering to help you and you refuse … but the more I think about it the more I see the Lebanese point of view … I mean imagine you are getting beaten up by someone much bigger than you and your friend is standing there watching doing nothing … then when the guy is done kicking your ass and you are lying on the ground in your blood … your friend walks up to you and says hey need a ride to the hospital? … of course you're going to tell him to **** off … we can even say in this instance that the friend didn't just stand there watching … he even blamed you and said that it's your fault you got your ass kicked because you provoked the other guy … ino thanks a lot FRIEND! Ya3ni imagine if you are one of those Lebanese that are being hit hard by this war … the ones in b2a3 and jnoob … ino your villages are being shelled and people are dying and there's no food or water or electricity or medicine and it's dangerous if you try to leave and so on … and all the arabs do to help you is send over boxes of food and medicine … how would you feel??? It would've been better law masalan ilurdun sa7bat safeerha min Israel … aw istad3at il safeer il Israeli … how about Saudi uses oil as a weapon … aw balash oil I know it's very precious to them … how about they say to the US we will back out of that arms deal we just signed with you … ino the point is get off your ass and do something!!! … ya3ni sending humanitarian aid is ad3af il iman … aslan you know how many countries are doing that … even the US sent over a ship of humanitarian aid … THE US!!! … the same country that just sent some more precision missiles to Israel … and who knows maybe the US sent over more supplies than the arabs … Egypt and uae also sent over some planes … come on arabs I think you can do better than the US … ino you don't have to send over your army to fight along with Hezbollah … but use your political influence to get a ceasefire … at least try … if you fail you fail but at least show us that you tried!!! … ba3dain sara7atan shoo humanitarian aid … ino humanitarian aid is what you do lamma biseer earthquake willa tsunami … mish lamma tkoon fee 7arb one of your arab neighbors!!! … aslan france alone has done more so far for Lebanon in terms of humanitarian (let alone political) than all the arab countries combined! … come on … ba3dain I bet you that logistics will prevent most of the supplies that have arrived from being distributed … anyway I don't know … it sucks that it's this way between the arabs … 7ibbu ba3adkum ya shabab lol. I think condi is due back in Beirut today … nashee6a hal condi lol … "condoleeza rice sounds like a Mexican dish, maybe we should put her on a plate and send her to Mexico so the Mexicans will eat her" (chappelle's show) loooool. LBC has a scrolling newsbar thing at the bottom now … I think future is now the only one without. New massacre today … Israel continues to titshatar 3al madaniyeen … it happened in qana … another qana massacre … at least 50 dead … the reports are saying that 20 of the dead are children … what makes it sadder is that the dead are from two families … I wonder if condoleeza will mention this massacre in her press conference today … hmmm … I doubt it. I saw a reportage on jazeera that some Saudi "3ulama2" issued a fatwa saying it's 7aram to help Hezbollah 2u 7ata ino nid3eelhum simply because they're shi3a 2u 2al inhum adawat lal 7aras il thawri … tfoo … I have a fatwa for those 3ulama2 … roo7u inti7ru … il inti7ar la amthalkum 7alal!!! What the **** is Israel doing … they're just killing civilians and destroying infrastructure … how does this eliminate Hezbollah exactly???? … I really don't understand the strategy. Condi's trip to Beirut has been cancelled … you know france sent their foreign minister … rice already came earlier … who have the arabs sent … the arabs haven't even met together to discuss what's happening … ya 7aserti! This just in … il malik 3abdalla yudeen bi shiddeh il jareemeh il bashi3a … deer balak huh … yudeen BI SHIDDEH … mish maz7a ya3ni … well I am not going to comment just yet … I will wait and see what he's going to do … iza ra7 yiktafi bil idaneh willa biddo yi3mal ishi … bidna af3al wa laysa aqwal ya jalalit il malik … shbi3na 7aki wi7yatak. 7usni mbarak wasaf illi sar bi ino "ghair mas2ool" … where have I heard those words before??? This just in … qimmeh islamiyeh tari2a on Thursday … will this one be different? … I'm not going to be a pessimist … maybe this will be the one where we finally wake up … but I'm not holding my breath either. Well now they are protesting in front of the UN building … they're trying to break in … they WILL break in it's just a matter of time … ok they're inside … wtf is going on … it's the Danish embassy all over again … Allah yustur … I'm watching it on tv … they're doing the same thing they used to do back in the hariri days … lamma kanu yihitfu ABU BAHA2 clap clap clap ABU BAHA2 … except now it's ABU HADI clap clap clap ABU HADI … abu hadi is of course hasan nasrallah. Rice has decided ino it's time for a ceasefire … 2al shoo kaman she feels sad about the loss of innocent life … la ya shai5a … bas mnee7 innik qarrarti ino khalas sar lazim ceasefire … bas you took your happy ass time ya3ni! It's shaping up to be quite a ****ed up day … the weather is very nice outside though. It's 37 children now … the number doesn't really matter bas ya3ni … just for the record. Wasim and Mustafa came over tonight … they called me lol. Around midnight … the electricity went out … at the same time there were a lot of Israeli jets flying over Beirut last night … A LOT … you could hear them loud and clear … I think this is the loudest they've been since the war started … my mom called yesterday … she's still in 3amman … dad is back in Saudi now … dad sent an email asking me what my plan is … I told him I'm going to stay here and wait and see what happens … I saw another drone … like I said before you don't see the plane you just see the thin line it leaves behind in the black sky … it's weird because you look up two hours later and the line is still in the same place … I'm not sure how that works … anyway … so I had to sleep without electricity … I think around 2 am I finally fell asleep. ** this is an excerpt from "pity the nation" … it's from the chapter called "the massacre" which talks about the qana massacre back in 96 … a woman is describing what she saw … her name is fawzieh saad … 'It was a horrible sight' she said. 'A man was lying in two pieces. There was a woman who was pregnant and I could see the arm and leg of her unborn baby poking out of her stomach. There was a man who had shrapnel in his head. He was not dead but you could see a piece of metal in his neck, like he'd had his throat cut. He told his daughter to come to help him and lift him up. And I heard her say: "Wait a minute, I'm trying to put my brother together – he's in two pieces". There was another brother holding a child in his arms. The child had no head. The brother was dead too. |

July 31, 2006
I woke up at 6 am because that's when the electricity came back … my pillow was completely soaked in sweat … I had to turn it over before going back to sleep because it was that wet … I finally woke up at 11 am. They're saying there's no more benzin bil balad … I don't have a car but this could mean a rise in the price of other goods … I just saw a reportage about it. Today has been declared a day of mourning in Lebanon … guess why! … tunis took it a step further and declared three days. Sleeping all day basically … just woke up a short while ago … it's 8:30 pm right now. Olmert is saying two more weeks maximum … tanshoof. Iran is sending their foreign minister … still no arab minister … tab laish? … ya3ni we make a big deal about whether Lebanon is arab or not in terms of identity … ino this whole thing about arab vs phoenician … but then when they get attacked … we turn our backs … so can we really blame them if some of them don't consider themselves arab??? Wasim and Mustafa came again tonight. The electricity went out at midnight … this is the 2nd day in a row that this happens … it's 2:30 am right now … woohoo it's the first of the month … payday hehe … masroofi byinzal bil 7sab kul 1st of the month … I won't say how much it is lol … I have to recharge my phone … I thought the recharging deadlines were cancelled because they said on the news that wazart il itisalat talbat haik min il sharkat il mobile … but today I got a message telling me I have five more days … so I guess the mobile providers told the wazara hell no lol. August 1, 2006 The strangest thing happened last night … this is around 3 in the morning I guess … the electricity had just come back … ino ya dob sarilha nu9 sa3a jayeh … willa faj2a the electricity in the room got really weak … ino il pc tafa la7alo … il tv ma tafa bas the picture got distorted and wavy … and the lights got really dim … so I turned everything off quickly because I know ino mumkin yi5rabu bi haik 7aleh … the only things that I kept on were the fans and the lights … the fans were still working but not at full speed … bas they were still working … same thing the lights … they were still working but they were really dim … then for like the next 2 minutes the electricity would gradually build up to normal and then gradually grow weaker again until it was almost gone … and build up and die and build up and die … so the lights would get stronger and the whizzing sound that the fans make would get faster and louder at the same time then they would die down again until you could barely hear the fan and the light is just barely there … so just as soon they would be normal they would die down again and then just as they are about to die completely the electricity slowly starts building again … wa hakaza … it kept doing that for like 2 minutes … it was like there was a ghost in the room lol … finally the electricity just died. Saw another drone last night … it's not a big deal anymore. Went to the supermarket today … haven't been there in a while … it's been maybe 5 days since my last visit … I've been getting my food from restaurants lately … anyway … it is so ****ing crowded now … and so messy … cigarettes are back to 2000 liras … same difference … they only have three checkout lines which is not enough anymore … I had to stand in line for like 15 minutes. the south is really getting raped these days … ya 7aram 3al jnoob shoo sar feehum … 7asbuna Allah wa ni3m alwakeel! il kahraba 3am ti2ta3 kteer in Beirut hal ayyam … I saw a reportage about it on the news ino some people are complaining inha 3am ti2ta3 without prior warning … our building is now running on generator almost all the time … I hear the noise it makes every time I walk by the reception. |

SHLOMO AND ALI Suppose you have 2 people … let's call them 3ali and shlomo … 3ali and shlomo hate each other's guts and wish they could kill one another … and everybody knows this … one day shlomo is walking down the street … 3ali approaches shlomo and pushes him really hard … shlomo falls down to the ground … shlomo is very upset … no one pushes shlomo … they are too afraid of what he might do if they did … shlomo gets up and pulls out a steel pipe … he starts beating 3ali over the head with the pipe … then he gets a baseball bat and beats him some more … then he pulls out a gun and keeps shooting at 3ali until there are no more bullets left … then he sets the body on fire … and finally he gets a chainsaw and cuts 3ali's body into little pieces … you are watching the entire time … you never tried to stop shlomo … when asked if you feel guilty about not helping … you shrug and say no not really aslan it was 3ali's fault he started it … ok … maybe 3ali started it … but don't you think that shlomo might've over-reacted just a LITTLE bit … I mean ok you watched him beat him with the pipe and the bat … you can say to yourself 3ali deserved it for pushing shlomo … but did you really have to watch the entire thing … I mean at what point do you jump in and say ok shlomo that's enough you got your revenge now leave him alone … ya3ni if you don't want to help 3ali because you're afraid shlomo might hurt you then at least try to be a referee … but don't just be a spectator! Shlomo will probably leave you alone because you watched and didn't interfere … but know that he doesn't respect you. |

The Times July 28, 2006
Israel backed by army of cyber-soldiers From Yonit Farago in Jerusalem WHILE Israel fights Hezbollah with tanks and aircraft, its supporters are campaigning on the internet. Israel’s Government has thrown its weight behind efforts by supporters to counter what it believes to be negative bias and a tide of pro-Arab propaganda. The Foreign Ministry has ordered trainee diplomats to track websites and chatrooms so that networks of US and European groups with hundreds of thousands of Jewish activists can place supportive messages. In the past week nearly 5,000 members of the World Union of Jewish Students (WUJS) have downloaded special “megaphone” software that alerts them to anti-Israeli chatrooms or internet polls to enable them to post contrary viewpoints. A student team in Jerusalem combs the web in a host of different languages to flag the sites so that those who have signed up can influence an opinion survey or the course of a debate. Jonny Cline, of the international student group, said that Jewish students and youth groups with their understanding of the web environment were ideally placed to present another side to the debate. “We’re saying to these people that if Israel is being bashed, don’t ignore it, change it,” Mr Cline said. “A poll like CNN’s takes just a few seconds to vote in, but if thousands take part the outcome will be changed. What’s vital is that the international face of the conflict is balanced.” Doron Barkat, 29, in Jerusalem, spends long nights trawling the web to try to swing the debate Israel’s way. “When I see internet polls for or against Israel I send out a mailing list to vote for Israel,” he said. “It can be that after 15 minutes there will be 400 votes for Israel. “It’s very satisfying. There are also forums where Lebanese and Israelis talk.” Israel’s Foreign Ministry must avoid direct involvement with the campaign but is in contact with international Jewish and evangelical Christian groups, distributing internet information packs. Amir Gissin, the Israeli Foreign Ministry’s public relations director, said: “The internet’s become a leading tool for news, shaping the world view of millions. Our problem is the foreign media shows Lebanese suffering, but not Israeli. We’re bypassing that filter by distributing pictures showing how northern Israelis suffer from Katyusha rocket attacks.” |

Turns out recharging deadlines were only cancelled for libancell users … I use alfa … libancell gave their subscribers i3fa2 min il tashreej for 1 year … this is what Mustafa told me … DAMMIT! A French official said that Israel faqdat da3m 7ulafa2ha il 3arab … it would've been nice if he mentioned some names. I heard a nice quote from someone on tv the other day … he said il 3alam il 3arabi qad inqasam ila muqawimoon wa muqawiloon … I thought that was a very clever way of describing the current situation. The Israelis are saying they need weeks to complete their mission … so what are we supposed to do … wait until then? … are we supposed to try to buy it time? … mish fahim ya3ni why they announce this … ino thanks for the update Israel! It's going to be a month since the war started very soon … a MONTH … that is a long time … a month of war for two soldiers???? … at the same time … it's been a month and 7izballa is still holding up … Allah y2aweehum … the 67 war lasted six days remember that! Right now b3albak is being raped … I guess they pretty much burned the south so now they are moving on to the b2a3 … then after they burn the b2a3 they move on to ?????? Have you seen the Israeli defense minister … 3amir peretz … doesn't he look Colombian? I saw jana and ghina at virus … I didn't talk to them though (I used to be good friends with jana a long time ago). My friend called … the one who went to dubai then to Riyadh … I didn't know it was him … the number was from Saudi but I didn't know who it was … it's the first time I speak to him since he left … he was calling to ask for the number of someone who lives in Riyadh … I didn't know it but I told him I would try to get it for him … I'm gonna email someone and ask him to send my friend the info … 3ad hadak byib3atlo ma byib3atlo ana ma da5alni ana 3milt illi 3alai … mish fadheelo hala2 … hammi kafeeni lol. Electricity didn't go out at midnight today … il7amdulila! Jordan's foreign minister is coming to Lebanon!!! …. An arab is coming to see us … FINALLY … 2al the reports are saying ino 7amil risaleh min il malik 3abdalla … but you know what … just the fact that he is coming is enough … honestly … I don't care what he came to do … nshalla jai yshim il hawa … the fact that he came is good enough for me … I honestly mean that I'm not being sarcastic … at least kallaf 5a6ro 2u ija … ba3dain maybe I can go back with him to 3amman on the plane lol … yeah right. Wal3aneh fi b3albak … 7izballa has surrounded some troops inside a hospital … this is what the reports are saying … the reports are now saying that the Israelis were trying to capture a Hezbollah local leader who was inside the hospital … oh the drama lol. Rice is saying the ceasefire will happen in a few days … Israel is saying in a few weeks … let's see who wins! I can't wait till the day that Hezbollah wins the war and we celebrate in the streets of Beirut … A MAN CAN DREAM. You know how Israel said they stopped bombing for 48 hrs … well my neighbors from across the hall (the ones I talked about earlier who just moved in recently) disappeared for the past two days … but they are back now … I guess they went to il jnoob or da7yeh to see the damage … aw yimkin baitHum lissato ma tdammar ra7u namu fee … anyway they're back now. |

The Jordanian foreign minister arrived in Beirut today … the Egyptian one is also here … so is the Spanish … at least the arabs are finally starting to show up. Dad called again last night … same old same old. Israel is saying they are considering bombing Beirut … uh ohhh … maybe they meant da7yeh … who knows … even if they do just bomb da7yeh … that means I'm gonna start hearing explosions again. Hezbollah launched something like 300 rockets today … plus a new one that struck 70 km into Israel … it almost hit jenin actually … so I guess all that stuff Israel was saying about destroying Hezbollah's rocket power capabilities was bull****. The Israeli operation in b3albak failed yesterday … they did manage to kill a mother and five of her children though … 19 Lebanese died in total. Have you seen the Israeli defense minister … hada 3amer peretz … doesn't he look Colombian? … he doesn’t look Israeli … he's from morocco originally by the way. Wasim and Mustafa came over … we went to mcdonald's to eat … the one in 3ain ilmraise … they have their tv on newtv … mcdonalds 7atteen 3al akhbar imagine that … everywhere you go now its akhbar … usually mcdonalds bikoonu 7atteen mtv or rotana or something … but now everywhere you go its akhbar … a few days before the war started … it was everywhere you go its world cup. Beirut is dark these days … I mean that literally … most of the street lights are not working … la2anno ma fee kahraba obviously … I went walking on corniche today cuz that's where most of the people who want to walk/jog go … m3atmeh 3al a5ir … you can't see anything … still life goes on … you still see the man pushing his cart that sells durra to the people who are just hanging out there … the light bulb on his cart moving through the darkness … 2u haik ya3ni … so I guess we can forget about going walking at night because you can't see anything! … khalas 7aseer anzal il sa3a sitteh il subi7 … I'm usually awake at that time anyway so might as well … bas Beirut is changing man … kteer mitghayra … I think the biggest change is the people … the demographics I mean … there's a lot of "strangers" … I don't mean that in a bad way … mish ino damn these nazi7een they are ruining the Beirut way of life like some of the snob people are thinking … I'm just making an innocent observation wallah … bas I feel there is a culture clash happening these days in the city. Most of the criticism these days of arab countries is directed towards certain ones … mainly Egypt, Saudi, and Jordan … I think Syria deserves to be criticized the most … why … because what was all that stuff they used to say about wi7dit il masar 2u Syria 2u lubnan sha3bain fee wa6an wa7ad BLA BLA BLA … remember all that stuff they used to say before they "withdrew" from Lebanon … kullo 7aki ya3ni??? … I mean ok Syria is helping the nazi7een or at least this is what I am hearing on tv … ino 3am y3amloohum a7san mu3amaleh … but this is not enough I'm sorry … tab ma Egypt and Saudi and Jordan kaman ba3atu humanitarian aid 2u ba3atu masari kaman so what … 2u 2al Syria said iza israel daraboona ra7 nrud … tab ma saru darbeen il masna3 (il7dood il sooriyeh il lubnaniyeh) malyon marra … il 7dood mish ard ya3ni il jolan mish ard sooriyeh mu7talehi … daroori yudurbu dimashq ya3ni … I don't get it … what is the Syrian rationale … ino tudurboona kaf ok bas mamnoo3 il shalalee6 lol … and now they are saying ino Syria wants to be part of the solution … ya3ni 7ashrat 7alha bil mawdoo3 … I don't know … I don't like syria's position regarding what's happening anymore than I like Egypt or Saudi or Jordan's. I was watching the Qatari minister on jazeera the other day … I don't agree with his political views that much … but I have to say I respect him … at least he is not talking out of his ass like most of the other arab politicians … he's telling it like it is … he's just being honest. Today when I was at virus I overheard an interesting conversation … I usually take my discman with me so I don't have to hear the people playing network games yelling at each other lol … but this time I didn't … anyway so the guy next to me started talking to the guy next to him and I heard what they were saying … they are two older men … one of them is Lebanese the other looks like a foreigner … so the conversation went something like this (they were speaking in English I'm not translating by the way) … the Lebanese guy turns to the other guy and asks him … - can you believe there is a war in this country what do you think of this? - Yeah I know, I was just in tyre (ya3ni soor) yesterday - Really why would you go there? - I'm a journalist, I have been in Lebanon for three days now - I'm like you I am here on vacation I am Lebanese but I live in Venezuela I was born there I have a US passport I'm an engineer and I have a business BLA BLA BLA (typical Lebanese showing off lol) - So what paper do you work for? - A newspaper in Denmark? - And how was it down there in tyre? then the Danish guy started talking about the awful smell of dead people … he was saying you've smelled similar smells before in your life like dead animals 2u rotten food 2u haik … but this smell makes you emotional … because you know that this is the smell of a human … so it is different from any smell. Anyway so I thought that was kind of profound hehe. Ba3dain fatu politics ballashu yitfalsafu 3a ba3ad that was when I lost interest lol the Lebanese guy was telling him ino if the Palestinians can just get their dawleh ino 95% of the problem in the middle east btin7al … 2u saru yi7ku 3an bush 2u olmert 2u absar shoo … and the Lebanese guy was asking him tab do people in denmark really understand the situation here 2u haik … ya3ni it was an interesting conversation overall … I enjoyed listening to it lol. So how much longer is this war going to go on … I say it'll be over before the 10th of august … that's my guess … and I base that on absolutely nothing lol. Wain il sayyid hasan … shta2nalo … shta2na la 6alto il bahiyeh lol … jad sar bidha kaman 7alqa min musalsal nasrullah. BoReD … I'm starting to think of ways to fill my free time … right now it's xbox and working out and tv and typing this **** journal … and SLEEPING lol … that's all I do … ino kunt mi3tabir il 7arb noo3 min il vacation bil awal … like when hariri died we kept getting days off that semester … plus a lot of people would simply ditch their classes 2al ya3ni 3am yitzaharu lol … 7atta when jubran tueini died they gave us like 2 days off … there were so many days off that semester mish tabee3i … anyway so I thought this "war" would be similar … ino vacation kam yom ba3dain bnirja3 bindawim … so kayyafit bil awal … bas now tawwalat il 7arb … I'm getting boooored … I was thinking I could try and work somewhere like a waiter or something lol … or I could do volunteer work … I don't know … at least I stayed in Beirut right … that's something … I didn't leave like everyone else who lives outside Lebanon … I stayed and suffered with the Lebanese … I stayed loyal I didn't sell out lol … ok I didn't suffer as much as some other people but I still suffered … that should count for something! … there is a public park close to where I live that has been turned into a shelter place for the nazi7een … I think I'm going to take a walk around that area tomorrow mish daroori to volunteer bas just to see it at least … I feel guilty for not volunteering … I should be helping out right … bas ma hoo ana kaman hal 7arb nakbatni bsara7a ya3ni ana biddi meen ysa3idni lol … I'm not even Lebanese man … I'm worse than a nazi7 I'm a laji2 … ehhh **** this war … **** Israel … I just want to graduate that's all I want lol. What is wrong with the Saudi foreign minister s3ood il faisal … this guy is half-dead man … he talks like a zombie! Did anyone see that reportage on 3arabiya where some woman went back to her house in bint jbail to find her dad … she left her dad alone in the house with his male nurse … but the male nurse ran away so she came from Beirut to look for him … and when they finally found the house and went inside she found a dog inside and she started freaking out because she thought her dad had died and the dogs were eating him … then they found her dad in the bed and he was still just barely alive and they carried him out on a stretcher … he had been in bed for 3 days without water and food and you could tell ino kan 3am yi3malha 3a 7alo because he had this big stain on his shirt and he was just barely alive man … when she came into the room and she saw him she was yelling bayyi bayyi bayyi ana fadya bayyi bayyi ana fadya and he was just saying shoo shoo over and over in a really tired voice … man that was a terrible thing to watch. It's 2:30 am right now … I just heard the loudest sound ever … na22azni a5u il $#%@ … I'm not kidding … I think I jumped … I was on the balcony smoking … faj2a ma btisma3 illa this really loud sound … REALLY LOUD … it scared the **** out of me … haik il shari3 fadhi and there's no sound and nothing moving 2u ana I'm smoking thinking about whatever … faj2a BOOM … I think kan sot tayaran … ino sonic boom (jidar il sot) … it didn't sound like an explosion … I know what explosions sound like now and that didn't sound like one … it sounded like … like when you pop a balloon … except this is one big ****ing balloon we're talking about! they're bombing da7yeh right now … I can see a drone in the sky … the line is always in the sky to the left side of my balcony … I think this is the fourth night in a row now where I look up at that side of the sky and there it is … I think I will name it … instead of just calling it the drone … I think I will call it imm ma7mood … theres a part in pity the nation where the author talks about how the villagers in the south used to call the MK Israeli spy planes imm kamel … 3a asas ino MK = imm kamel … khalas from now on if I say I saw imm ma7mood ya3ni I saw the drone. |

Latest update on the phone situation lol … I don't think I have to recharge … I can't miss call anyone or message anyone but I can still receive calls … but I don't think I have a specific deadline to recharge by … because for the past 3 days they've been telling me I have five days to recharge lol … so I guess what libancell did is that they told their users that their credit is valid for one year … i7na our credit only remains valid until it expires and then it is up to you if want to recharge … this is what I concluded nshala akoon sa7. Wasim and Mustafa came over … wisam called! … haven't seen him in maybe four days … he came shwai 2u 2a3ad ma3na … but then he left after like 10 minutes because he had to go see 3imad … 3imad is his cousin … I was supposed to do two term papers for 3imad before the war started for a fee of $100 … well wisam told him for $120 3ashan yilha6lo 20 dollars looool … I did a philosophy paper for wisam last semester for 50 thousand liras ya3ni 33 dollars cuz wisam is a good friend fa I gave him a discount hehe … khalas kunna mitif2een 7ata I even gave him the thesis statements cuz he had to submit them … he gave me $20 2u 2alli I'll give you the rest bhal yomain … I told him ok but I'm not going to start working till you give me the rest hehe … but then the war came and I never saw 3imad or his money. It's 1 am … just heard a really loud explosion … they're bombing 7art 7raik … that's in da7yeh … in Beirut it's known simply as il 7ara … they dropped flyers over that part of the city earlier today basically telling the residents to get the **** out because they were gonna bomb the **** out of it … I keep hearing about the flyers that Israel has been dropping over Lebanon but I still haven't seen one yet … hope I never do … I used to go to 7art 7raik before … shu3bit il ajanib taba3 il amn il 3am used to be there … I used to go there to get my residence permit (il iqameh) … I still remember it was opposite il 3adliyeh lol … it used to be there but now it is located in a new fancy building for the amn il 3am close to the French embassy. I saw this thing on the news ino as7ab ma3amil il khashab 2a3deen byitbara3u bil tawabeet la ahl il jnoob … la 7awla wala quwwata illa billah. I wanna say something to the arab leaders … if you hate Hezbollah fine … but do you hate Lebanon … I mean interfere for the sake of Lebanon if you don't want to interfere for Hezbollah's sake … ya3ni if you think Israel can destroy Hezbollah without destroying Lebanon then you're mistaken … actually … if you think Israel can destroy Hezbollah period you're mistaken! Electricity hasn't gone out in 2 days now … il7amdulila … hope it stays this way. 4 am … still hearing the jets and the bombing … the bombings aren't that loud … they're not loud at all actually but you hear them … there was one loud one three hours ago … that was the only one … definitely hearing the jets though … there's imm ma7mood in her usual spot … they've been bombing all night … so when sayyid hasan warned Israel about bombing Beirut … was da7yeh included?? … yimkin kan azdo ya3ni qalb Beirut … aw who knows maybe da7yeh is included. 4:30 am … just heard a loud explosion … just heard another one as I was typing that last part. Lyric of the day: If you don’t remember me I'll run your brain around the block Just to jog your ****in memory (eminem – 313) August 4, 2006 Went to the sala il 7amdulila … boring 5utbeh … it was a typical religious 5utbeh … I guess people are talking about war 24/7 so they don't need to hear a 5utbeh about it kaman … they're saying Monday should be the last day of the war … aw bil a7ra ino the ceasefire should be reached by Monday … nshalla ykoon hal 7aki mazboot. W, W, and M came over … wisam went to faraya again … wisam and I are Hezbollah all the way … wasim and Mustafa think that the Hezbollah operation was a mistake … anyway I borrowed paradise now from Mustafa … gonna watch it soon nshala … probably tonight … need to get some food first!!! Dad called … he sounded sooo worried … man he sounded worried … I just wish he would stop asking me iza il jam3a 2alat aimta 7a nirja3 ndawim … ya3ni if I knew I would tell you I wouldn't wait for the question … yallah basita. 2al condoleeza bahdalat kofi laish ino intaqad Israel la2ano qatalu 4 UN troops … someone needs to slap that *****! Situation in Palestine not getting any better!!!! New massacre today … baldat il qa3 fil biqa3 … al 3udwan 3ala lubnan … al nas tamoot fee da7iyat Beirut … shoo kaman … what other war rhyme can you think of … they killed like 30 people … all civilians of course … 3ummal actually … why should our leaders care about a bunch of worthless 3ummal? 7izballa is still inflicting casualties … six dead civilians … and 4 soldiers … nicely done. HUNGRY! … must go get food lol. I should recharge my phone so I can start ordering food … sick of having to go and get it … yallah it's exercise it's not like I get to leave the house that much anymore so … Allah yintaqim min Israel bas! Venezuela sa7bat safeerha … kbeer ya hugo … I know he is only doing it nikayatan bi amreeka … but I don't care … still good news! They struck within 80 km of Israel today … I think that is a new record for them … they hit il5daira. I saw paradise now … nice movie … it's about two friends who are chosen to be carry out suicide attacks inside Israel and the events that unfold … the film isn't against suicide attacks and it's not for them … it shows you both sides and leaves the judgement to you … I hated the Moroccan girl though … ma btifham 3alaiha ishi … and she's not even pretty lol … the part when they had to tape their wills was funny … ba3dain keef byitghayyar shikilhum bas yi7il2u … well I still think "suicide" bombs are a legitimate form of resistance for Palestinians considering that they don't have any real weapons to fight with … but they need to be strategic and planned not just raddit fi3il.. The Israeli attack on Lebanon revealed just how wide the gap is between arab leaders and the masses … so even if the arab leaders survive this crisis … there will be a deep divide between them and their people … the wound has always been there but the recent Israeli aggression has helped open it … do you think they will survive though? Excerpt from pity the nation … Early on the morning of June 10, an Israeli plane had flown slowly but at high altitude over west Beirut. We were standing on the roof of the AP building at the time and watched as a cloud of rectangular yellow papers floated down from the aircraft. There must have been tens of thousands of leaflets drifting down on the warm early morning breeze, a lunatic confetti that settled on the roofs of apartment blocks, in the streets, in back gardens and on the surface of the Mediterranean along the Corniche. They were not addressed to the Lebanese but to the Syrian troops still in the city, specifically to Lieutenant-colonel Omar Halal, the commander of what was left of the Syrian Brigade in west Beirut. They were signed by Brigadier-general Amir Drori, the commander of Israel's northern invasion front. It was a curious way for one army officer to address another, albeit an enemy, an open letter delivered from 10,000 feet that told Colonel Halal that his days were numbered. We shall capture the city in a short period. Drori's note said in Arabic. We have committed a large part of our air, naval and ground forces for the area of Beirut city. These forces outnumber and outgun all your forces. As an experienced general who lacks no wisdom, you surely know that any attempt to throw your forces against the IDF is tantamount to suicide. ………… on the back of Drori's letter was a map of west Beirut and marked upon it was a safe passage out of the city. THOUGHT OF THE DAY: A lot of Lebanese artists are releasing songs these days about Beirut … as if we don't have enough of those already!!! |

August 5, 2006
Not in the mood to write anything today … nothing to write about anyway. Went to virus … that journalist guy was there again … he was with another Danish guy … they kept talking in Danish … I need to start taking my discman again hehe. Wasim and Mustafa came over … we watched this movie called domino … it sucks … 2al it's keira knightley as a bounty hunter … IT SUCKS! Playing fifa street 2 these days … my left thumb is sore because of the controller … that's how much I'm playing. Seriously bored. August 6, 2006 Another day … another day of war … no bombing last night … that was good. I'm sick of the news … it's just the same thing over and over and over … bla bla bla … but I can't stop watching for some reason. I need to make some sort of daily schedule for myself … I need to restore some order in my life … I can't just sit around like this waiting for the war to finish … cuz who knows when it might finish??? … maybe I should just leave. They're saying the ceasefire should be reached this week … I hope "they" are right. I'm curious to know what is the average number of arabs killed per day by Israel in 2006 so far … how about just the average number of arabs killed per day so that we can include iraq as well … I think we would be first place in the world in that category. Syrian foreign minister is here … I think all the arab foreign ministers are supposed to meet in Beirut tomorrow … I don't think they'll get anything done … it's not up to them anyway … oh yeah 3amru musa is here too. A dozen Israeli soldiers killed today … SWEET! I would like to see someone ask sayyid hasan a question … ino knowing what you know now would you still have gone through with the operation? … I mean I think the guy is an amazing speaker but is that a really tough question … I would love to see how he handles it. There was breaking news on newtv ino fee muzahara 2uddam il Bristol tandeedan bi ziyarit walid il m3allim wazeer il 5arjiye il soori … il Bristol is a hotel … it's where qiwa arba3tash athar hold their meetings btw … it's not very far from where I live … so I was like cool let's go see … I walked over there … there was mitil ma bi2ulu tawajud katheef li qiwa il amn … katheef jiddan … but no sign of muzahara? … maybe I came too late … wazart il da5lye talla3at qarar ino mamnoo3 bukra il muzaharat wil i3tisamat 3ashan bukra ijtima3 wuzara2 il 5arjiye il 3arab … anyway so I kept walking … I walked past the cine concorde which is a few yards away from the hotel … this is around 11 or 12 I guess … it's closed … no one is there … no lights on either … usually that place is packed with people … I kept walking … I passed by that public park in the sanayi3 area which has been turned into a shelter for nazi7een … I could see the people inside as I walked by … some were asleep on farshat … some were sitting around sahraneen … there’s tents inside the park … and cars … some people are watching tv … others listening to radio … it’s really sad … ino living inside a park! Doesn't look like the ceasefire is gonna happen … Lebanon isn't happy with the UN offer … so what happens now? … iza il mu2tamar taba3 bukra fishil ma3nato sallimli … khalas might as well leave … it's almost been a month now … a MONTH … il summer 7a yikhlas wil 7arb lissa ma khilsat … I'm gonna wait until my flight date … if the airport isn't open by then li kulli 7adithin 7adeeth. I used to think I couldn't possibly hate Israel more than I already did … I stand corrected. Something that happened the other day … a little Beirut war humor for you lol … I was walking in the street and there was this nasty smell … I think it was ree7it majari b3eed 3ankum … so there were these two girls walking behind me … fa one of them says to the other fee ree7a bish3a … her friend told her yimkin fee 7ada mayyit … I thought that was kind of funny. August 7, 2006 5:50 am …just heard a series of explosions. 6 am … there they go again. They're not the loud kind … I guess they don't want to wake the people of Beirut up! Went walking today … wanted to take some pictures … I didn’t take that many … I passed by 7adeeqit renee m3awad (the park I talked about earlier) and I took a couple of pictures … then as I walked away I could hear someone calling and whistling … so I turned and there was some darak guy (3askari ya3ni) calling me … I had to walk over to him … he asked me who I was and why I was taking pictures and if he could see the pictures … he asked me why I haven’t left yet … I’m getting that question a lot lately. |
